5 Social Media apps I use on my phone every day

A mate of mine posted on Facebook the other day that nobody in LA returns phone calls anymore. I blame the phones. We use them for phone calls less and less every day. When considering how I use my current phone plan, the amount of data included is definitely more important to me compared to how many calls I’ll be able to make. Between making calls I use my phone to find and share content, read blogs and even engage in real-time marketing. So here are 5 social media apps I use on my phone every day to ensure that I can be as productive and active as I need to be.

Everyday Social Media phone apps

There’s an app for that…

Like most smartphones mine is loaded with plenty of apps. From Hurley’s video surf reports to Angry Birds Star Wars. However these 5 social media apps I use on my phone every day get high usage as I mix business with pleasure while I’m on the go.

Skype

I’ve been busy trying to convince my friends, family and contacts to join me using Google+ Hangouts. Meanwhile everyone from my new clients to my kids like to remind me that they are already on Skype and ready to connect. It has refined my phone bill, strengthened relationships and is still a very powerful business tool.

HootSuite

I use this app for monitoring multiple streams of Tweets, messages and conversations. It’s also a great tool for composing and scheduling messages to multiple social networks in one go where ever you are. In addition to improving remote productivity this app also includes stats and analytics for all of the accounts I have in HootSuite.

Buffer

The bulk of my daily Twitter activity is from a predetermined schedule using Buffer. I use the mobile app to top up my Buffer queue throughout the day. It automatically shortens links, has a really easy to read stats tab and makes it simple to reorder scheduled posts. It’s a great extension to the web app.

Facebook Pages

I manage multiple Facebook pages and this mobile app is a great way to get a quick snapshot of what is going on with all of your Facebook page profiles. The notifications help me to respond to messages and posts in real-time and you can use it to upload multiple photos for a single post. You can also use it to edit page admins and even add new admins for the Pages you manage.

Google+

I find so much great content using this mobile app to share across all my different social networks. I also really like that you can easily switch between using Google+ as your brand page or your personal profile. Another feature I like is that you can actually check-in as your brand page (for example I can check-in as ‘Social Strategies’ at a clients business while I’m there).

Social Media Phone Apps and Tools

Conclusion

Although I regard most of my activity on these 5 social media apps I use on my phone every day as ‘business activity’, it’s all very ‘social’ too. I also regularly use all 5 of these apps for fun and keeping in touch with my friends and family on my phone. After monitoring the way I use my phone this week, I really don’t make that many actual phone calls. However with these and other apps I have taken communicating and relationship building to a new level using my phone like never before.

Do you use any of these smartphone apps on a daily basis? Is there a particular social media app you use on your phone that has become a daily favorite? I’d love to hear your comments below.
