Blogging is all about your audience. It’s not about you, your business, or your products. It’s about providing valuable content for your readers, followers and prospects. Like Stephen R. Covey says: you should ‘start with the end in mind‘. However think about how you can offer your readers ‘value‘ the whole way through. So how do you add value to your blog posts? 3 highly effective ways to add value to your blog posts is to use valuable keywords, choose a killer headline and include the kind of images that people will want to share.

3 highly effective ways to add value to your blog posts

Of course these things won’t make up for weak subject matter or poor writing. But these 3 highly effective ways to add value to your blog posts will enhance your content and make it easier to find and share your blog posts as well.

Using Valuable Keywords

There is a sign hanging on my office wall that says: Keywords Are A Commodity. Identifying and using the best keywords has never been more important. By ‘best’ I don’t mean obvious. As the search engines algorithms become more sophisticated and our search habits evolve, it’s important to choose and use your keywords with the searcher in mind. Search engine users more often have questions like: “How do you add value to your blog posts?” rather than obvious queries like: “blog post tips”. Try to make sure that your keywords help to answer the questions your target audience will be asking.

Choose a Killer Headline

Your headline is important for a number of reasons. For starters it needs to tempt your readers to to read on and share your content. It also needs to describe what they should expect if they continue reading. Your headline is also the first place you’ll use your valuable keywords. It will usually form your page title and will increase the blog posts visibility when the page title matches search queries. The most valuable headlines will include words that your audience is looking for and encourage them to consume and share the post.

Include Amazing Images

Images can make an amazing impact on your readers and the value of your blog post. Whether it’s an eye-popping Pinterest hit, or some humour to make your readers smile (I hope that my choice of image for this post raises a smile), the right image in your post can really make a difference. We want your blog posts to be shared on social media and a great image will not only make your post more shareable, but will also contribute to people clicking through to your content from sites like Facebook, Pinterest and Tumblr.
