Video Marketing Strategy
There’s no shortage of compelling statistics suggesting why your business needs a video marketing strategy. With all the technology at our fingertips now there are no more excuses for video not to be part of your content strategy.
Part of my video content strategy is to provide helpful ‘How To’ videos for entry-level social marketers. Last year I published a video to help claim and merge a Facebook place page to enable visitors to check-in and to help tidy up duplicate pages.
So far the video has been viewed over 700 times, so I hope that it has helped a few people tackle those tasks. Better still, it continues to generate inbound leads with businesses that would prefer to just pay Social Strategies to sort it out for them. One of those new clients recommended Social Strategies to a friend and now that video is generating word-of-mouth referrals as well.
There are plenty of ways online video can generate income for your business, but above all video makes it easy for your audience to consume your content. So lets get your video(s) in front of them with these 5 ways to create exposure for video content.
5 ways to create exposure for video content:
1. Upload you video onto YouTube, Vimeo & Facebook
This may sound like an obvious step, but it’s important to tick all the boxes. When you are uploading your video to YouTube be sure to give it a title that will prompt people to watch it and include relevant keywords as tags. Don’t stop there. Adding it to Vimeo will only increase the chances of your video being found and shared. Now go and login to your Facebook page and upload it there too. Sure it’s easy to just post a link to the video on your Facebook page, but your video strategy should include a collection of your videos hosted on your Facebook page for your fans and friends to ‘like’ and share.
2. Embed it into a blog post or landing page
Just like I have done with my animated whiteboard video here, embedding video into your blog will enhance the context of the video content and will add value to the blog. I reckon your blog should be the hub of your social media and content marketing strategies. So it is an essential place for your target audience and prospects to find and view your video. Make sure the blog post has social sharing buttons handy so that your readers can easily share your video content with their circles, followers and friends.
3. Add it to StumbleUpon and Pinterest
These are excellent ways to expose your video(s) to people who love visual content and sharing. My last blog post on SteemFeed went absolutely bananas on StumbleUpon (1.5K shares and counting). It only takes a few folks with a strong following to give your video the thumbs up and it’s like a domino effect. Pinterest is a visual content mecca that supports videos so that they can be played and viewed easily. Pinterest boards and pins often show up high in search engine results as well.
4. Email a link of your video
Believe it or not, some people actually try and avoid social media. That doesn’t mean you can’t be social and share your video with them. My uncle Barry is a reliable source of humorous and entertaining emails. Many of them contain links to video content. When you email the link to your video or related blog post to your subscribers, friends, family and contacts, who knows how far it will go? It might even end up in uncle Barry’s inbox (and outbox).
5. Create & upload a short form video trailer on Instagram
Like Pinterest, Instagram is all about visual media. A great way to promote your video content is by adding a sample or trailer to Instagram. BBC News have a popular Instagram channel with 15 second snippets promoting current news stories. When you are creating your video content it might pay to create a 15 second trailer while you’re at it. You can use it to promote your content through one of social media’s fastest growing platforms.
Animated whiteboard videos tell your story
One of the most effective ways to use video content for your brand is with an animated whiteboard video like the one below. They’re a fun way to convey your message and they keep your audience engaged and waiting to see what comes next.
