We want people to read your blog. After all the effort that you put into each post it is important that your blog has the best possible chance of being found and read. Your blog needs these three things now to add credibility, make it easy to find and to provide a great user experience. Any or all of these things may seem obvious, however it surprises me how many examples you can find of blogs that haven’t addressed these essential attributes for a successful blog.

Blogging blog tips for social media marketing

In addition to making your blog user friendly these three things will also help to improve the way Google responds to your content. So if you haven’t implemented ALL three of these things yet, it is time to do so now. Your blog needs these three things in 2014.

1. Google Authorship

You know how sometimes you see profile pictures in search results? That is because the blogger has set up Google authorship. It’s not difficult to set up and has loads of benefits including: eye catching search results, credibility and the potential to increase your click through rate (CTR). Please see the Infographic below.

2. Make your site mobile-friendly

According to information from Google 50% of people said that even if they like a business, they will use them less often if the website isn’t mobile-friendly. It’s not something you can put off any longer. Even if your site is just for information (as opposed to an eCommerce site) the mobile user experience has never been more important.

3. Add social sharing buttons

Social sharing is the new ‘Word of Mouth’. It certainly hasn’t replaced the old word of mouth, however if your blog isn’t enabled to facilitate social sharing you will have to miss out on lots branding opportunities and potential new customers. By making it easy for your readers, clients and brand advocates to share your content it will help increase brand awareness and drive traffic and sales.

Conclusion

Fine tuning your blog for a better user experience should be a priority for your business in 2014. Google, your social networks and your potential new customers will love you for it. Don’t add it to the list of things to do. Do it now. Your blog needs these three things now and every moment you delay could represent lost opportunities.
